Methods and Materials

The range of materials available for home-building is vast, as is the spectrum of construction methods. Volumes have been written on the subject. What appears here is only a few examples of unusual implementations we’ve run into along the way.
The counter-top shown here was originally a top mounted sink with a raised rim mounted to a thin Corian slab with a small back-splash. Unfortunately, it was so well bonded to the cabinet and the wall tile that removal was impossible. Rather than destroy everything and start over, we bonded cement backer-boards to the Corian and tiled over the whole thing resulting in an under-mounted sink and a beautiful tile counter-top that goes nicely with the rest of the bathroom finish.
